Order From Chaos

Most of my clients are unable to use a gym right now due to gym closures or self-isolation. I have encouraged even those with access to a gym to stay home. While it is the right thing to do, staying home and almost never going out is extremely disruptive to our routine, and so causes a lot of stress and anxiety on top of the already high levels of stress we are all feeling at the moment. There are things we can do to combat this though.

Establishing a new routine, within the current confines we are dealing with, can help alleviate some stress. Creating a new workout routine specifically will have the dual benefit of structuring your days/week and giving you an outlet for some of the energy and emotion you are feeling. There are lots of exercises you can do at home with little-to-no equipment, and because the weight will be quite light, you can do a workout of some kind pretty much every day! And while it won’t be the same as going to the gym, you can rest assured you are doing everything you can to hold onto your gains, and for me that is a big stress reliever. It leaves my mind open to deal with other things.

Things like thinking about those around me. Thinking others and finding ways to help, even if it’s just your neighbour who maybe is at higher risk, or your grandparents who can’t go out to get groceries, can help your mental state immensely. At times like this, looking out for each other can be the best thing for us. Together, we’re going to make it.
