Good habits. Lots of us are going to go into the new year with a plan, a plan for progress and bettering ourselves. VERY often that plan will involve losing weight/fat. This week we will be posting about the process of losing weight and how you can be successful as you start your fat loss journey.
Today we are talking about the habits you need to start developing. Building a consistent routine will make your fat loss goals much easier to attain. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to fat loss, but the suggestions we are going to make have worked for many people and are a good place to start for most.
Start weighing yourself every day. Weigh yourself in the morning, before eating, before using the washroom. By taking weekly averages from these weigh ins you can see what your weight is really doing, and adjust your diet accordingly.
Learn to count calories. The next post will talk about this a bit, but learn about calories and macros, and get used to tracking them. This doesn’t work for everyone, and for some people fixating on calories is a bad idea, but very often this is a good place to start. It takes a bit of practice but once you get the hang of tracking it is very easy and really not very intrusive.
Start sleeping more. Most people do not get enough sleep. Start getting to bed earlier, and taking steps to improve your sleep quality. Limiting screen time before bed, using an eye mask, and establishing a consistent sleep and waking time can all help.
Finally, start developing a meal plan and prepping your meals. Creating a plan, and having the meals ready ahead of time, greatly reduces the chances you will go over your calories. You have more control over your diet and your time!
